How we score mutual funds
The transparent methodology behind every mutual fund score at Mutual Fund Assessor. Each fund earns six factor scores from 0 to 10 (returns, risk-adjusted returns, downside protection, cost, concentration, and consistency), and the weighted average becomes the score out of 10. Weights adapt to the fund type, funds are ranked only against their category peers, missing data lowers confidence rather than inventing numbers, and extreme one-year run-ups are capped. You can change every weight yourself in the Scoring Lab. Free, no login, educational.
